The Danube Cycle Path - Passau - Bratislava - Vienna - Passau...

The route is always on cycle paths throughout flat to slightly downhill. Therefore, this tour is ideal for casual bikers, beginners and children.

Itinerary:
1. Day: Passau - Mauthausen
Individual arrival and embarkation in Passau at 4 pm. At approx. 6.30 pm cruise through the romantic Danube Valley.
2. Day: Mauthausen - Grein - Devin (approx. 35 km)
A varied route through the hinterland of the Strudengau awaits you! Before you reach the ship town Grein, a stop at the Burg Clam is worthwhile. In the evening atmospheric light trip to Devin.
3. Day: Devin - Bratislava - Vienna (ca. 18 - 49 km)
From Devin you follow the former 'Iron Curtain', cross the former border and reach the imposing Baroque Palace of Hof with its beautifully terraced gardens. Cycle through Austria's 'vegetable garden' to the coronation city and former capital of Hungary Bratislava located at the slopes of the Little Carpathians. Explore the hidden alleyways and sights of Bratislava on an optional city tour.
4. Day: Day off in Vienna
Today you can visit Vienna (optional city tour by bike resp. in the evening waltz or operetta concert). At night your ship leaves Vienna in the direction of Wachau.
5. Day: Vienna - Wachau/Krems - Melk (approx. 33 km)
In the morning you arrive the Wachau an then you cycle through a beautiful landscape to Melk. This region is characterized by quaint villages, wine terraces and castles.
6. Day: Melk - Grein - Obermühl (ca. 50 km)
A visit of the Benedictine brethren of Melk is a must. Starting in the wide valleys of the Nibelungenau you follow the Danube and cycle further into the Strudengau until you return to Grein again. The ship takes in the evening carses to direction of Obermühl.
7. Day: Obermühl - Donauschlinge - Engelhartszell (ca. 28 - 43 km)
The bike route takes you on the former towpath through the original landscape of the Upper Danube Valley and the Danube Loop of Schlögen. At the stage destination is Austria's only Trappist monastery Engelszell, famous for its "healing" herbal schnapps and liqueurs. In the evening you enjoy a gala dinner with a small crew farewell show on board.
8. Day: Engelhartszell - Passau
In the morning arrival in Passau and disembarkation at approx. 9.30 am. Individual departure.

Our ship - the MS Theodor Körner***+:
This spacious traditional style ship was extensively refurbished in winter 2013/14 in the trendy Art Deco and now it exudes a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. It offers 60 well-appointed outside cabins, a restaurant with a panoramic bar and a lounge with a small library. You find relaxation on the spacious sun deck in a lounge chair or in the infrared sauna. WIFI on board available (for a fee). All passenger cabins have large windows, shower/toilet, hair dryer, sat-TV, safe and centrally regulated air conditioning. On the upper and on the promenade deck there can be opened all cabin windows. In addition to the 2-bed cabins and junior suites there are also 1-bed cabins (single cabin or 2-bed cabin ECO for single use) and the possibility of an additional bed for a third person in the junior suites (possible on both decks, extra bed = couch) and the 2-bed cabins (only on the promenade deck, extra bed = bunk bed).
Please note following at the booking of the cabins:
double cabin = 2-bed-cabin with ground level beds (10-11 qm)
three bed cabin = extra bed for the third person
