Cruise & Cycle from Berlin to Stralsund

Start in the cosmopolitan city of Berlin and enjoy the green beauty of its forest to the north and the Oder-Havel-Canal on your way to Oranienburg, Eberswalde, and Schwedt. The stretch to Sczcecin in Poland is tranquil and unique. The castle there is impressive. Continue along the bay, on the island of Usedom to Germany's largest island, Rügen, with its famous chalk cliffs. Crown your tour with a leisurely stroll through the Hanseatic City of Stralsund.


Travelroute:

Day 1: Arrival in Berlin
Travellers are responsible for their transportation to Berlin. Check-in on board starts at 4:00 PM. Berlin is always worth travelling to. You may have time to stroll down Kurfürstendamm, through the district of Nicolaiviertel on the Spree Island, or to the Brandenburg Gate.

Day 2: Berlin - Oranienburg - Eberswalde
Distance: approx. 37 km
Take the well-built bicycle route through the lake district of Ruppin to Oranienburg. Points of interest: Baroque castle and gardens, museum, and orangery. Get on board to Eberswalde. The lock there was built in 1831 and is the oldest lock on the Elbe still in use. Its wooden gates are opened and closed by way of push rods.

Day 3: Eberswald - Oderberg - Schwedt
Distance: approx. 23 km
Cycle on the Treidel Cycle Route along the Finow Canal and through beautiful landscape of forests, clearings, and small elevations towards Niederfinow (lift lock) and to Oderberg. Get on board there to Schwedt.

Day 4: Schwedt - Gryfino - Stettin
Distance: approx. 30 km
Cross the Oder into Poland. Cycle along the secondary roads on field and forest trails and through sleepy villages to Gryfino. Cruise to Stettin, the green city on the Oder with one of the Baltic's largest harbours. Point of interest: the renovated castle of former Pommeranian dukes in the Old Town.

Day 5: Stettin - Wolgast, Day of Rest on Board
Spend the day on board and enjoy the cruise to the Stettin Lagoon and Wolgast, "The Gate to the Island of Usedom". The medieval Old Town with its town hall and church, Petrikirche, is definitely worth seeing.

Day 6: Wolgast - Peenemünde - Lauterbach
Distance: approx. 15 km
In the morning, cycle to Zecherin, Karlshagen-Hafen, and Peenemünde. (Tip: historico-technical museum in the former power station) Get back on board in Peenemünde and cruise to Lauterbach in the South-East of Rügen Island. Don't miss visiting the nearby town of Putbus (approx. 2 km / 1.2 mi), "The white town of the North". Classic architecture surrounds the square (circus).

Day 7: Lauterbach - Stralsund
Distance: approx. 44 km
Today's tour takes you through Putbus and Garz, along the Schoritzer Wiek Bay, to Poseritz and Gustow with its well-known village church, and across the Rügen Dam to Stralsund where you go on board again. There are several extraordinary sights to see in the meaningful Old Town situated on a small island.

Day 8: Departure from Stralsund
Depart after breakfast (check-out time is 9:30 AM). Travellers are responsible for their homeward transportation.


Accommodation:
The Ms Princess has a sunny restaurant and cosy day room to enjoy. All cabins are outer cabins (10.5 qm / 108ft²) with own shower/WC, hair dryer, telephone, TV, safe, and air conditioner. The two separate beds in each cabin are made into a seating area during the day. All decks, incl. the sun deck, are accesible by stairs and lift. Technical details: The river boat was built in 1981 and renovated in 2010. It holds a maximum of 98 passengers, is 80x9.5 m / 262x31 in size, and has 49 cabins.
