By bike and boat - North Sea coast, flat polderland and IJsselmeer towns
with MS Angela Esmee on the "Northern tour"...
Almost always flat on bike paths along the canals or on almost traffic-free side roads, you get to know the most bicycle-friendly country in Europe. You live on a typical riverboat, which accompany you on the daily stages, so that you can stay a day on board and experience the journey as a picturesque cruise. No annoying search for accommodation, no constant packing and in the daytime carefree cycling without luggage. On some days you can also decide between different long cycle routes.

Itinerary:
1. Day: Amsterdam - Zaandam
Individual arrival to Amsterdam. Embarkation between 2 pm and 5 pm. Afterwards you can stroll through the old town or make a tour of the canals. From approx. 6 pm "dinner cruise" to Zaandam.
2. Day: Zaandam - Alkmaar (approx. 50 km)
We should pay a visit to the open-air museum "Zaanse Schans" with old Dutch wooden houses, windmills, etc. Through the nice polderland you reach Alkmaar (guided city walk incl.).
3. Day: Alkmaar - Den Helder - Texel Island (approx. 60 km)
In Alkmaar you start your tour and cycle via the artist's village of Bergen to the North Sea. Along the North Sea beach and through flat polder and coast landscapes, you reach the marine seaport of Den Helder. In the evening you take your boat to the island of Texel to Oudeschild.
4. Day: Texel Island - Den Oever (approx. 15 - 65 km)
Day of stay on the biggest Dutch North Sea island of Texel: You can either spend the day at the beach or you make a round tour on the island. Alternatively, you may visit the seal breeding station "EcoMare" or a small brewery. In the evening boat trip to Den Oever, with a music evening on board.
5. Day: Den Oever-Medemblik - Enkhuizen (approx. 30 - 50 km)
On board of your ship you travel to Medemblik. Then you have the choice of either cycling into the heart of the country or directly along the IJsselmeer coast to Enkhuizen (beautiful harbour, historical town and the very interesting "Zuiderzeemuseum"). In the evening there is a guided city walk included.
6. Day: Enkhuizen - Volendam (approx. 50 km)
First the part leads to Hoorn with its historic old town, before you head into the "cheese city" of Edam. Soon you reach the fishing port of Volendam.
7. Day: Volendam - Amsterdam (approx. 35 - 50 km)
Through the "waterland" with its countless small lakes and canals with visit to a cheese farm with cheese tasting, and possibly with a detour to the former island of Marken, you cycle back to Amsterdam.
8. Day: Amsterdam
Disembarkation until approx. 10 am and individual departure.

The ship is about 78 m long and has 41 outside cabins, from which are 10 cabins on the upper deck. All cabins (mainly two-bed cabins, approx. 9 qm) are equipped with a window (can only be opened on the upper deck), shower/toilet and air condition (partly centrally controlled). The saloon has a restaurant area, a bar and lounge with seating areas and panorama windows, which enable a wonderful view. The sun deck is partly canopied and offers guests seating opportunities and there is a place to store the bikes.
